The New Zealand people called themselves the kiwis because the kiwis was they’re native bird.

 

  1. How did the government encourage Māori to join the war?

 

The Maori Decided to to join the British then the Maori told each other

 “do your bit”  

 

  1. What was the war cry used to encourage Māori to fight?

 

The Maori Shouted out “E te iwi, whìtiki! Whiti! Whiti e!” (“O people,

prepare yourselves for battle! Spring up! Spring up!”)

They were responsible for the Mana,Honor and the good for the Maori People.

The WW1 didn’t really help equal the Maori and The British because the British didn’t really care about New Zealand no more.

Foreign observers gave them international recognition, and in meeting soldiers from other countries Kiwis judged themselves against others.

Did this prophecy come true? Explain.

Vaita Prophecy became true on 18 June 1767 because countries came to invade New Zealand and started taking over New Zealand because New Zealand also known as Maori had Seals and Whales.

→Tupaia was a navigator helping Captain Cook sail to New Zealand and other islands which Tupaia actually helped a lot.

interpreter Interpreter is someone helping a person translate well. For example, I pretend my friend doesn’t know how to speak English and knows how to speak a language. I would ask him a question in the language and I translate it to english. My mum doesn’t really know how to speak English well so I’ll be her interpreter.
diplomat Diplomat is a country on board or sailing with their ship. Representing their country. Captain Cook set sail to New Zealand which was known when the British came to New Zealand.
indigenous  Indigenous is  something Native to the country or someone part of the country. The Kiwi is a indigenous bird in New Zealand. The Maori people is also indigenous.

 

  1. Explain the four reasons why Hoe were important, and special pieces of technology for Maori.

→ The Maori used it for an important reason; one was that they needed it to sail.

→ The hoe was also important because they also used it for spiritual importance

→ Maori had a long time trying to make more detail to the hoe.

  1. Tupaia (up until recently) and much more Polynesian history remains oral history (that means told by speaking). How can we ensure that this history is available to learn for future generations? Try to come up with at least 2 ways.

 

→ To teach the younger generation we could let them research more about Tupaia and let them read book more about Tupaia.
